Matthew 6:6 When Thou Prayest

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. -Matthew 6:6 Bible, King James Version

When Jesus spoke of his Father in Heaven he was referring to his I AM Presence or Higher Self. By quieting our thoughts and our feelings when we pray, our I AM Presence can more clearly communicate with us. The Beloved Master Jesus teaches us: "When We [the Ascended Masters] have asked you to enter into the Silence, to learn that which your "Beloved I AM Presence" wishes to explain to you from day to day, in unfolding the Great Divine Plan into outer manifestation- it is absolutely essential that you still the outer! Silence the habit of speech, and enter into the Greatest Enjoyment- Joy which is contained within the Light as It begins to expand and reveal Itself, whenever you still the outer; and hold the attention steady upon the "Beloved I AM Presence" in the Heart of the Great Great Silence. To shut off the outer world activities for a few minutes, or perhaps an half hour, and enter into the Great Silence of the Eternal Light [of Heaven,] will enable Illumination to come to the intellect, which will always bring Truth and Perfection to you in your outer activities. This is the Revealing Presence by which you may know ahead, that which you must do in physical action to co-operate with your "I AM Presence" and the Ascended Host, to produce the Perfection you desire to have sustained in the Physical World." ('The Voice of the I AM' 1948 May p17-18)
