Matthew 5:38-39 Resist not evil

38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. -Matthew 5:38-39 Bible, King James Version

Here Jesus appears to be pointing out the difference between the Old Testament Law of Justice and the New Testament Law of Love and Mercy. When  we enter into some kind of battle with the forces of evil we risk being dragged down spiritually to their level of consciousness. The Elohim of Purity teaches us: If... the slightest feeling comes within you to retaliate or as you say -"get even with someone,"...kill it instantly within you! It is more dangerous than a rattle snake. It is more dangerous to your Expansion of the Light, than you know! Don't allow those things to dwell within you. (The Voice of the I AM, 1946 June p14) It is far better to let God fight our battles for us. One can be assured that the Law of the Harvest or the Law of Karma will exact a just response without us doing anything. In the Inner Worlds especially, but this can also become an outer protection, one can use the Light of God for protection. The Ascended Masters teach that the Light of God never fails. For example, by visualizing or using an I AM Decree we can place ourselves in a protective Pillar of White Light. Also by opening up the Heart and Crown Chakras we can increase this protection because this increases the flow of Light down from our I AM Presence and Higher Mental Body which reside above us. If we turn to our I AM Presence for assistance we can use an I AM Decree to ask for specific help. For example, there are legions of Angels who can come to our aid. We read in the Old Testament of the Bible an example of God's invisible protection  involving the prophet Elisha: 15And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. -2 Kings 6:15-17 Bible, King James Version

CHAPTER 122.

17If you are not received in kindness in a town, bear not away an evil thought; do not resist. 18An evil thought of any kind will do you harm; will dissipate your power.
