Genesis 2:8-9 Tree of Life & tree of knowledge

'And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And... the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.'

There are basically only 2 spiritual paths in life. The broad path of good and evil, which most people travel along including the Eastern and Western Religions, and the strait and narrow Path of Life Eternal which few follow. One path leads to death the other leads to Life. In other words being good is a stepping stone to spirituality and it will eventually lead to the Path of Life Eternal but being good alone is not enough to set us Free from the Wheel of Birth and Death.

In the New Testament Jesus teaches; "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat."(St Matthew 7:13)

The majority of mankind follow the path of good and evil which leads to reembodiment or reincarnation. When mankind is good they travel up the wide path towards Heaven and when they are evil they travel down the wide path towards hell. Most of mankind spend their lives moving up and down spiritually on this wide path according to the quality of their thoughts and feelings. In the Books of the Saviour Jesus teaches his diciples: "For this cause...have I brought the keys of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; otherwise no flesh in the world would be saved. For without mysteries no one will enter into the Light-kingdom, be he a righteous or a sinner." ('Pistis Sophia' by G.R.S. Mead p289)

Jesus goes on to say; "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."(St Matthew 7:14) In 'The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ' by Levi (p149) 'Jesus turned and to the twelve he said...find the path that leads to the mountain top.'

This is the Path of Ascension which is the Goal of Life. If you do not know how to gain the Ascension in this lifetime then you have not found the Path that leads to the mountain top. And if you're wondering how many is a "few" consider this. Up until the 1930s only approximately one person a year attained the Ascension despite the teachings of the orthodox Religions including Christianity.

Good and evil is the dual nature of the lower Planes which are associated with the human state of consciousness. Life Eternal refers to the mansions of Heaven beyond such duality where there is only Light, Divine Love, Freedom and the Divine State of Consciousness.
