Their garments correspond to their intelligence, and therefore all in the heavens appear clothed in accordance with their intelligence; and as one is more intelligent than another so the garments of one surpass those of another. The most intelligent have garments that blaze as if with flame, others have garments that glisten as if with light; the less intelligent have garments that are glistening white or white without the effulgence; and the still less intelligent have garments of various colors...

Verse 11. [Revelation 6:11] And white robes were given to every one of them, signifies Divine truth from the Lord with them, and protection. This is evident from the signification of "a white robe" as being Divine truth from the Lord, for "robe" signifies truth in general, because it is a general covering; and "white" is predicated of truths which are from the Lord; for whiteness pertains to light, and the light proceeding from the Lord as a sun is in its essence Divine truth. That "white robes were given to everyone of them" signifies also protection, will be told further on; but let it first be told why "a white robe" signifies Divine truth from the Lord. All spirits and angels are clothed according to their intelligence, or according to their reception of truth in the life, this constituting intelligence; for the light of their intelligence is formed into garments, and when these are thus formed they do not merely appear as garments, but they also are garments. For all things that exist in the spiritual world, and appear before the eyes of those there, exist from the light and heat that proceed from the Lord as a sun; from that origin have been created and formed not only all things in the spiritual world, but also all things in the natural world; for the natural world exists and subsists by means of the spiritual world from the Lord. From this it can be seen that the appearances that exist in heaven before the angels are altogether real; in like manner also the garments. As spirits and angels are clothed according to intelligence, and all intelligence is of truth, and angelic intelligence is of Divine truth, so they are clothed according to truths; this is why "garments" signify truths; "the garments" that are next to the body, that is, the inner garments, signify interior truths; but the garments that are outside of these and encompass them, signify exterior truths; therefore "a robe," "a mantle," and "a cloak," which are general coverings, signify truths in general, and "a white robe" Divine truth in general, which they have from the Lord. (But see what has been shown respecting The Garments with which Angels are Clothed, in the work on Heaven and Hell, n. 177-182; and what has been said above about the signification of garments, n. 64-65, 195, 271.) [2] "There were given to those who were under the altar white robes" signifies also protection by the Lord, because "the white robes" given to them represented the presence about them of the Lord with Divine truth; and by means of Divine truth the Lord protects His own, for He surrounds them with a sphere of light, from which they have white robes; and when encompassed by this sphere they can no longer be infested by evil spirits; for, as said above, they were infested by evil spirits, and were therefore hidden by the Lord. This also takes place with those who are elevated by the Lord into heaven. They are then clothed with white garments, which is an indication that they are in Divine truth, and thus in safety. But respecting those who were clothed in white robes more will be shown in the explanation of the following chapter (Rev. 7:9, 13-17)...

CHAPTER 172.

Pilate places the Roman seal upon the stone door of the tomb. At mid­night a company of the silent brothers march about the tomb. The soldiers are alarmed. Jesus preaches to the spirits in prison. Early Sunday morning he rises from the tomb. The soldiers are bribed by the priests to say that the disciples had stolen the body.

¹The tomb in which they laid the body of the Lord was in a gar­den, rich with flowers, the garden of Siloam, and Joseph’s home was near.

²Before the watch began Caia­phas sent a company of priests out to the garden of Siloam that they might be assured that Jesus’ body was within the tomb.

³They rolled away the stone; they saw the body there, and then they placed the stone again before the door.

CHAPTER 173.

(Jesus appears, fully materialized, to his mother, Miriam, Mary of Mag­dala and to Peter, James and John.)

¹Now, when the rabbis took the body of the Lord and laid it in the tomb the mother of the Lord, and Mary Magdalene, and Miriam were there.

²And when the body was en­tombed they went to Joseph’s home and there abode.

³They did not know that Jew­ish soldiers had been sent to guard the tomb, nor that the Roman seal was placed upon the stone;

⁴So in the morning of the first day of the week they hastened to the tomb with spices to embalm the Lord.

⁵But when they reached the tomb they found the terror-stricken soldiers running frantically about.

⁶The women did not know the cause; but when they found an empty tomb they were excited and aggrieved.

⁷The soldiers did not know what had transpired; they could not tell who took the body of the Lord away.

⁸And Mary Magdalene ran with haste toward Jerusalem to tell the news to Peter and the rest.

What of course the Bible does not tell us is how Jesus was able to rise from the dead. To understand this mystery I will turn to the teachings of the Ascended Masters: During the time Jesus’ body lay in the tomb, the faculties of His outer consciousness were drawn into his Higher Mental Body and from within It’s Light and Substance he poured the Flame of his own Life Stream from his Higher Mental Body’s Heart, Head and Hands into the flesh structure of his physical body and at the same time the Ascended Master known as the Great Divine Director also poured the Flame from his Heart and the Ascended Masters Octave of Light upon the flesh body of Jesus. The Great Divine Director drew the Cosmic Light Ray from his Octave and held that protected and undisturbed by the vibratory action of the atmosphere of this earth until all the Points of Light in the flesh body were drawn into Jesus’ Higher Mental Body. When that was completed Jesus came forth from the tomb on Easter Morning in his Higher Mental Body. (The Voice of the I AM 1941 November p22-23) The Higher Mental Body can be raised or lowered in vibration to appear physically or disappear up into the higher Planes.

Beloved Saint Germain teaches: "Even the Mighty Master Jesus and every Being who ever Ascended, could not go into that Higher Mental Body without being taught and seeing the use of the Violet Consuming Flame." ('The Voice of the I AM' 1947 August p20) 

John 19:37 Second Coming of Jesus

'And they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son... In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem...And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.'

Many Christians believe this is a prophecy concerning the Second Coming of Jesus to the Jews who will mourn because they crucified their own Jewish Messiah.

...[2] He who knows nothing of the internal sense of the Word, knows no otherwise than that by "bloods" in the Word are signified bloods; and that by "shedding blood" is merely signified killing a man. But the internal sense does not treat of the life of man's body, but of the life of his soul, that is, of his spiritual life, which he is to live forever. This life is described in the Word in the sense of the letter by such things as belong to the life of the body; namely, by the flesh and blood. And because the spiritual life of man exists and subsists through the good which is of charity and the truth which is of faith, therefore in the internal sense of the Word the good which is of charity is meant by "flesh," and the truth which is of faith is meant by "blood." And in a still more interior sense, the good which is of love to the Lord is meant by "flesh," and the good of love toward the neighbor is meant by "blood." But in the supreme sense, which treats of the Lord alone, "flesh" denotes the Divine good of the Lord, thus the Lord Himself as to Divine good; and "blood" denotes the Divine truth proceeding from the Lord, thus the Lord as to Divine truth. These things are understood in heaven by "flesh and blood" when a man is reading the Word; in like manner when he attends the Holy Supper; but in this the bread is the flesh, and the wine is the blood, because by "bread" the same is signified as by "flesh," and by "wine" the same as by "blood." But as before said those alone apprehend this saying who can think above the sensuous [sense based] things of the body; especially those who are in faith and in love to the Lord, for these are raised by the Lord from the life of the sensuous things of the body toward the life of their spirit; thus from the light of the world into the light of heaven, in which light those material things which are in the thought from the body disappear. [5] He therefore who knows that "blood" denotes truth Divine from the Lord, is also able to know that by "shedding blood" in the Word is not signified killing, or depriving a man of the life of the body; but killing or depriving him of the life of the soul, that is, destroying his spiritual life, which is from faith in and love to the Lord. That "blood," when understood as being shed unlawfully, denotes truth Divine destroyed by means of falsities from evil, is clear from the following passages:... I will set wonders in the heaven and in the earth, blood, and fire, and a pillar of smoke. The sun shall be turned into thick darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day come (Joel 2:30-31). The sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood (Rev. 6:12). The second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea; and the third part of the sea became blood (Rev. 8:8). The second angel poured out his vial into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man, whence every living soul died in the sea. The third angel poured out his vial into the rivers, and into the fountains of waters, and they became blood (Rev. 16:3-4). [6] In these passages by "blood" is not meant the blood of man's bodily life that is shed, but the blood of his spiritual life, which is truth Divine, to which violence has been done through falsity from evil. The like is meant by "blood" in Matthew: Upon you shall come the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zachariah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar (Matt. 23:35); by which is signified that the truths of the Word have had violence done to them by the Jews, from the earliest time even to the present, insomuch that they would not acknowledge anything of internal and heavenly truth. Therefore neither did they acknowledge the Lord. Their "shedding His blood" signified the complete rejection of truth Divine, for the Lord was Divine truth itself, which is "the Word made flesh" (John 1:1, 14). The complete rejection of truth Divine which was from the Lord, and which was the Lord, is meant by these Words in Matthew: Pilate washed his hands before the people, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just man; see ye to it. And all the people answered, His, blood be on us, and on our children (Matt. 27:24-25). Therefore this subject is thus described in John: One of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water. He that saw bare witness, and his witness is true; and he knoweth that he saith true things, that ye may believe (John 19:34-35); that water also came out was because by "water" is signified external truth Divine, such as is the Word in the letter (that "water" denotes truth, see n. 2702, 3058, 3424, 4976, 5668, 8568). [7] From all this also it is evident what is signified by being purified "by the blood of the Lord," namely, that it is through the reception of the truth of faith from Him (n. 7918, 9088). So also it is plain what is signified by these words in John: They overcame the dragon by the blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of His testimony (Rev. 12:11); "by the blood of the Lamb" denotes through the Divine truth which is from the Lord, which is also "the Word of His testimony." "The blood of the Lamb" denotes innocent blood, for "a lamb" denotes innocence (n. 3519, 3994, 7840). The truth Divine that proceeds from the Lord in heaven has innocence inmostly within it, for it affects no others than those who are in innocence (n. 2526, 2780, 3111, 3183, 3494, 3994, 4797, 6013, 6107, 6765, 7836, 7840, 7877, 7902).

 

John 19:30 Jesus gave up the ghost

A ghost is another name for a spirit. There are the spirits of mankind who have a physical body and those who do not. When Jesus gave up the ghost this simply means He discarded His outer body and continued to live as a spirit in the Spirit World.
