Jesus openly taught the spiritual children, or those who were not spiritually mature, in parables or symbolic stories. Those who were ready for the deeper spiritual teachings, Jesus shared these with them in private. In this day and age Jesus is able to reveal more of the Truth, or the Fullness of the Gospel, than He was permitted to in His day and age. Different churches and Religions represent varying degrees of Truth like Kindergartens, Primary and Intermediate schools for children, High schools for teenagers and Universities for adults where men and women can receive Masters Degrees. When we learn what the Ascended Masters teach we can put away the limited childish teachings of the orthodox priests so we can learn to become spiritual men or Ascended Masters also.
