Luke 9:46-48 Greatest in heaven

46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

-Luke 9:46-48 King James Version (KJV)

Arcana Coelestia, by Emanuel Swedenborg, [1749-56], tr. by John F. Potts [1905-10], at sacred-texts.com

A certain spirit supposed that he had lived holily in the world because he was esteemed as holy by men and so merited heaven. He said that he had led a pious life, and had spent much time in prayer, supposing it to be sufficient for each person to look out for his own interests. He also said that he was a sinner, and was willing to suffer even to being trodden under foot by others, which he called Christian patience; and that he was willing to be the least, in order that he might become the greatest in heaven. When examined in order to see whether he had performed or had been willing to perform anything of good, that is, any works of charity, he said that he did not know what these were; but only that he had lived a holy life. But because he had as his end his own preeminence over others, whom he accounted vile in comparison with himself, at first, because he supposed himself to be holy, he appeared in a human form shining white down to the loins, but was turned first to a dull blue, and then to black; and as he desired to rule over others, and despised them in comparison with himself, he became blacker than others. (Concerning those who desire to be greatest in heaven, see... n. 450, 452.)

Some who during their abode in this world had seemed to be preeminently enlightened in regard to the Word, had conceived so false an idea about heaven that they supposed themselves to be in heaven when they were high up, and imagined that from that position they could rule all things below, and thus be in self-glory and preeminence over others. On account of their being in such a phantasy, and in order to show them that they were in error, they were taken up on high, and from there were permitted in some measure to rule over things below; but they discovered with shame that this was a heaven of phantasy, and that heaven does not consist in being on high, but is wherever there is anyone who is in love and charity, or in whom is the Lord's kingdom; and that neither does it consist in desiring to be more eminent than others, for to desire to be greater than others is not heaven, but hell.

452.
I have conversed with spirits who supposed heaven and heavenly joy to consist in being the greatest. But they were told that in heaven he is greatest who is least, because he who would be the least has the greatest happiness, and consequently is the greatest, for what is it to be the greatest except to be the most happy? it is this that the powerful seek by power, and the rich by riches. They were told, further, that heaven does not consist in desiring to be the least in order to be the greatest, for in that case the person is really aspiring and wishing to be the greatest; but that heaven consists in this, that from the heart we wish better for others than for ourselves, and desire to be of service to others in order to promote their happiness, and this for no selfish end, but from love.

Luke 9:28-36 The Transfiguration of Jesus

                                                  The Transfiguration of Jesus Christ

28And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
30And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
32But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.
34While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
35And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
36And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen. Luke 9:28-36 Bible, King James Version

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ by Levi H. Dowling

CHAPTER 129.

11Then Jesus, taking Peter, James and John, went forth unto a mountain top to pray. 12And as he prayed a brilliant light appeared; his form became as radiant as a precious stone; 13His face shone like the sun; his garments seemed as white as snow; the son of man became the son of God. 14He was transfigured that the men of earth might see the possibilities of man. 15When first the glory came the three disciples were asleep; a master touched their eyes and said, Awake and see the glory of the Lord. 16And they awoke, and saw the glory of the Lord; and more, they saw the glory of the heavenly world, for they beheld two men from thence stand forth beside the Lord. 17And Peter asked the master who awakened them, Who are these men who stand beside the Lord? 18The master said, These men are Moses and Elijah, who are come that you may know that heaven and earth are one; that masters there and masters here are one. 19The veil that separates the worlds is but an ether veil. For those who purify their hearts by faith the veil is rolled aside, and they can see and know that death is an illusive thing. 20And Peter said, Praise God! And then he called to Jesus and he said, My master and my Lord, this is the gate of heaven, and it is well that we remain. 21May we go down and bring three tents; a tent for you, a tent for Moses, and for Elijah one? But Jesus answered not. 22And Moses and Elijah talked with Jesus on the mount. They talked about the coming trial of the Lord; 23About his death, his rest within the tomb; about the wonders of the resurrection morn; the transmutation of his flesh, and his ascension on the clouds of light; 24And all symbolic of the path that every man must tread; symbolic of the way the sons of men become the sons of God. 25The three disciples were amazed, and suddenly the ethers were surcharged with song, and forms as light as air, moved all about the mountain top. 26And then from out the glory of the upper world they heard a voice that said, 27This is the son of man, my chosen one to manifest the Christ to men. Let all the earth hear him. 28When the disciples heard the voice they were afraid; they fell upon the ground and prayed. 29And Jesus came; he touched them and he said, Arise, fear not; lo, I am here. 30Then they arose, and as they looked about they saw no one; the men had gone. The master only stood with them. 31As Jesus and the three came from the mountain top they talked about the meaning of the scene, and Jesus told them all; and then he said, 32Till I have risen from the dead tell not to any one what you have seen. 33But the disciples could not comprehend the meaning of the words, Till I have risen from the dead. 34And Jesus told them once again about his death, and rising from the grave; about the kingdom of the soul that was to come in glory and in power. 35But Peter said, The scribes have taught that e’er the king shall come Elijah must appear. 36And Jesus said, Elijah has already come; but scribes and Pharisees received him not; 37And men reviled him, bound him, cast him in a prison cell, and shouted with a fiend’s delight to see him die. 38What men have done to him, that they will do to me. 39Then the disciples understood that Jesus spoke of John whom Herod slew.

In 1948 thru the Saint Germain Foundation Beloved Master Jesus talks about this experience: "I had hoped in that Experience, that the four whom I took to watch with Me, might receive the Understanding of what was to occur; but since the vibratory action was such in their own outer selves, as to not observe that which took place in My Form, then this Greater Knowledge could only be given, as the centuries rolled on. Now the centuries have rolled; and the Great Cosmic Law has seen fit, thru your Beloved Saint Germain, to release to you Our use of the Violet Consuming Flame, so It might consume your human creation; and raise the vibratory action of the energy of the outer self..." (The Voice of the I AM 1948 January p27) Jesus goes on to explain how this was accomplished: "On the Night of the Transfiguration the Power was completely concentrated from My Higher Mental Body into the physical flesh!" (p28) Higher Mental Body into the physical flesh!" (p28) Beloved Mighty Helios teaches us: "The Flame of the Transfiguration is the Purifying Power of the Violet Consuming Flame in Its Everlasting Love!" (The Voice of the I AM 1949 June p9)

...[11] From all this it can now be seen what is signified by Moses and Elias, who were seen in glory, and who spoke with the Lord when transfigured, of His departure which He should accomplish at Jerusalem (Luke 9:29-31); namely, that they signified the Word ("Moses" the historic Word, and "Elias" the prophetic Word), which in the internal sense throughout treats of the Lord, of His coming into the world, and of His departure out of the world; and therefore it is said that "Moses and Elias were seen in glory," for "glory" denotes the internal sense of the Word, and the "cloud" its external sense (see the preface to Genesis 18, and n. 5922, 8427).

Luke 9:24 Whosoever will lose his life for my sake

24For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. Luke 9:24 Bible, King James Version

Ideally Jesus  wants us all to be peace makers however He knew His message would divide mankind sometimes to the point that they would take up arms against one another. There will be those of the same household whose differing spiritual beliefs will divide them. In order to follow the Master Jesus one must be willing, if necessary, to upset loved ones by changing our spiritual beliefs. Those who love their families more than God, and the Ascended Masters who represent God, are serving their families rather than serving God. We need to place our Heavenly Father, or the I AM Presence of God, first in our lives and follow the teachings of the Ascended Masters or we will not be worthy of the Ascension. Those who lose their old way of life, which may include losing family, relations, loved ones and one's religion for the sake of following the Ascended Masters shall find Eternal Life.

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ by Levi H. Dowling

CHAPTER 122.

40The Christ is king today, and men must recognize his power. 41He who loves not the Christ, which is the love of God, before all else, can never gain the prize of spirit consciousness. 42And they who love their parents or their children more than they love the Christ can never wear the name of Christ. 43And he who loves his life more than he loves the Christ cannot please God. 44And he who clings to life shall lose his life, while he who gives his life for Christ will save his life.

Luke 8:55 Her spirit came again

55And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway... Luke 8:55 Bible, King James Version (KJV)

When Jesus raises the child from the dead her spirit, which gave her physical body life and which had separated from her dead body, returned to her body and she rose from the dead.

Luke 8:41-48 Jesus said virtue is gone out of Me

41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
-Luke 8:41-48 Bible, King James Version

The Virtue of Purity Is the Expression and Fruit of Life
According to the Spirit
Pope John Paul II

Purity is the Light of Heavenly Love and is the Power of God which filled Jesus' body and His clothing. The Ascended Master Saint Germain teaches us: "Purity is Freedom and Purity is Light! Therefore, whatever draws you into the Light, draws you up and out of fear and limitation... You cannot be Free without Purity... The thing humanity requires most is Purity... The demand of the Cosmic Law is Absolute Purity, if you are to wield the Unlimited Powers of Light in this Universe; for thru a soiled window the Light does not shine." ('The Voice of the I AM' 1944 June p5-7)

Luke 8:30-33 Devils go into the deep

30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
-Luke 8:30-33 King James Version (KJV)

Apocalypse Explained, by Emanuel Swedenborg, [1757-9], tr. by John Whitehead [1911], at sacred-texts.com
The "abyss" signifies the hells where and from which are falsities, because those hells where the falsities of evil have rule appear like seas, in the depths of which is the infernal [hellish] crew, which is in the falsities of evil. These hells appear like seas because falsities continually flow out from them, and falsities appear like waters; this is why "waters" in the Word also signify falsities. Moreover, from the waters themselves the quality of the falsity there is known, for falsities are of many kinds, as many as there are evils. Falsities that are from grievous evils appear over those hells like dense and black waters, and falsities from the evil of the love of self like ruddy [red coloured] waters, the density and color making evident the kind of falsity. It must be remembered that in the spiritual world [between heaven and hell] truths also appear like waters, but like limpid and pure waters. This is because there are three degrees of man's life, as there are three heavens. Those in whom the third degree is opened are in an atmosphere pure like ether; [the upper regions of air beyond the clouds] those who are in the third or inmost heaven are in such an atmosphere; those in whom only the second degree is opened are in an atmosphere as it were aerial; [the air] those who are in the second or middle heaven are in such an atmosphere: but those in whom the first degree only is opened are in a kind of watery, rare, and pure atmosphere; those who are in the first or ultimate [lowest] heaven are in such an atmosphere. This is because interior perceptions and thoughts, as being more perfect, correspond to a purity of atmosphere like that in which they are, for they pour themselves forth from every angel and still more from every angelic society, and present a corresponding sphere, which sphere is manifested in a purity like that of the perceptions and thoughts of the angels, that is, of their intelligence and wisdom. This sphere appears, as has been said, like an atmosphere, like an ethereal atmosphere in the inmost heaven, like an aerial atmosphere in the middle heaven, and like a rare watery atmosphere in the ultimate heaven. This makes evident that a kind of watery atmosphere corresponds to natural thought and perception, but a rare watery atmosphere corresponds to spiritual-natural thought and perception in which are the angels of the ultimate heaven; but a dense watery atmosphere, approaching either to black or ruddy, corresponds to natural thought in which there is nothing spiritual, and natural thought in which there is nothing spiritual those have who are in the hells where falsities prevail, for all who are there are merely natural and sensual. [or sense based] (That man has three degrees of life, like the three heavens, and that they differ in purity, see in the work on Heaven and Hell, n. 33, 34, 208, 209, 211.) This makes evident why such hells are called in the Word "seas" and "abysses," "seas" because they appear like seas, and "abysses" from their depth. [2] That "seas," "depths," and "abysses" signify the hells where and from which are the falsities of evil, can be seen in the following passages of the Word... In the Gospels: ...The demons that had possession of the man besought Jesus that He would not command them to depart into the abyss, therefore He suffered them to enter into the swine (Luke 8:31, 33; Matt. 8:31, 32). And in the following passages of Revelation: The beast that came up out of the abyss and made war (11:7). The beast that thou sawest was and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss (17:8). I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain upon his hand. And he bound the dragon a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss (20:1-3). In these passages, also, "the abyss" and "the depth of the sea" signify the hell where and from which are the falsities of evil; for the reason that the evil spirits who are there, and who while they lived as men in the world were in the falsities of evil, seem to dwell as it were in the bottom of the seas, and this the more deeply according to the grievousness of the evil from which was their falsity...

Luke 8:10 The Mysteries of the Kingdom of God

10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables... Luke 8:10 Bible, King James Version

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. -1 Corinthians 2:10 Bible, King James Version

There are basically two levels to the teachings of the Gospel. There are the shallow teachings such as the parables Jesus taught and then there are the deeper spiritual Teachings such as what those parables represented. One must search for the deeper spiritual Teachings of the Ascended Masters including Jesus.

Pistis Sophia translated by G. S. R. Mead

CHAPTER 102

JESUS continued again in the discourse and said unto his disciples: "When I shall have gone into the Light, then herald it unto the whole world and say unto them: Cease not to seek day and night and remit not yourselves until ye find the mysteries of the Light-kingdom, which will purify you and make you into refined light and lead you into the Light-kingdom... 258. "Say unto them: Renounce the doctrines of error, that ye may be worthy of the mysteries of the Light...

CHAPTER 103

263. "But amēn, amēn, I say unto you: Even if a righteous man hath committed no sins at all, he cannot possibly be brought into the Light-kingdom, because the sign of the kingdom of the mysteries is not with him. In a word, it is impossible to bring souls into the Light without the mysteries of the Light-kingdom."

CHAPTER 111

When then the disciples had said this, the Saviour continued again and said unto his disciples: "If ye go into cities or kingdoms or countries, proclaim first unto them, saying: Search ever and cease not, until ye find the mysteries of the Light which will lead you into the Light-kingdom. Say unto them: Beware of the doctrines of error. For many will come in my name... and they will lead many astray. Now, therefore, unto all men who come unto you and have faith in you and hearken unto your words and do what is worthy of the mysteries of the Light, give the mysteries of the Light and hide them not from them. And unto him who is worthy of the higher mysteries, give them, and to him who is worthy of the lower mysteries, give them, and hide not anything from any one...

CHAPTER 125

Mary continued again and said unto the Saviour: "My Lord, if the faith and the mysteries shall have revealed themselves, -now, therefore, if souls come into the world in many circuits [or changes of the body] and are neglectful of receiving mysteries, hoping that, if they come into the world at any other circuit, they will receive them, will they not then be in danger 317. of not succeeding in receiving the mysteries?"

The Saviour answered and said unto his disciples: "Herald unto the whole world and say unto men: Strive thereafter that ye may receive the mysteries of the Light in this time... and enter into the Light-kingdom. Join not one day to another, or one circuit to another, hoping that ye may succeed in receiving the mysteries if ye come into the world in another circuit...

318... "At that time then the faith will reveal itself still more and the mysteries in those days. And many souls will come by means of the circuits of the changes of the body... coming back into the world...

CHAPTER 133

The Saviour answered and said unto Mary: "Amēn, I say unto you: All which is appointed unto every one... whether all good or all sins... cometh unto them. For this cause, therefore, have I brought 351. the keys of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; otherwise no flesh in the world would be saved. For without mysteries no one will enter into the Light-kingdom, be he a righteous or a sinner... 352... "For this cause, therefore, I have not hidden it, but I have cried it aloud clearly. And I have not separated the sinners, but I have cried it aloud and said it unto all men, unto sinners and righteous, saying: 'Seek that ye may find, knock that it may be opened unto you; for every one who seeketh in truth, will find, and who knocketh, to him it will be opened.' For I have said unto all men: They are to seek the mysteries of the Light-kingdom which shall purify them and make them refined and lead them into the Light. For this cause, therefore, hath John the Baptizer prophesied concerning me, saying: 'I indeed have baptized you with water unto repentance for forgiveness of your sins. He who cometh after me, is stronger than me. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will purify his floor. The chaff indeed he will consume with unquenchable fire, but the wheat he will gather into his barn.' The power in John hath prophesied concerning me, knowing that I would bring the mysteries into the world and purify the sins of the sinners who shall have faith in me and hearken unto me, and make them into refined light and lead them into the Light."

...Scarcely anyone knows wherein resides the Divine of the Word, when nevertheless it is in its internal and spiritual sense, which at this day is not known even to exist (Arcana Coelestia 2980, 4989). The mystical contents of the Word are no other than those of its internal or spiritual sense, which treats of the Lord, of the glorification of His Human, of His kingdom, and of the church, and not of the natural things which are in the world (n. 4923). The prophetic writings are in many places unintelligible, and therefore of no use, without the internal sense, illustrated by examples (n. 2608, 8020, 8398). As for instance, with respect to what is signified by "the white horse" in Revelation (n. 2760 seq.). What by "the keys of the kingdom of the heavens," that were given to Peter, see the preface to Genesis 22, and n. 9410. What by "flesh," "blood," "bread," and "wine," in the Holy Supper (n. 8682)...

Mighty Victory teaches us: "...the masses of mankind, until they are taught this Law, do not have permanent Victory! ...Like a pendulum they swing and swing and swing, and never stabilize anywhere; because they cannot, until they know That Glorious Word "I AM"; understand where the "Mighty I AM Presence" is; what It is and what It can do for them. Only then can they see, know and accept the Reality of the Mighty Ascended Masters; the Great Cosmic Beings... Until they know the "Beloved Mighty I AM Presence" and Its Cosmic Law, they are not stabilized within Permanent Happiness nor Perfection." ('The Voice of the I AM' 1951 June p28-29)

Luke 7:40 Simon calls Jesus, Master

40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. -Luke 7:40 King James Version (KJV)

                                                       Ascended Masters

Jesus was one of the Master minds at this time. After His Resurrection from the dead He became a Resurrected Master and after His Ascension He became one of the Ascended Masters. Before Jesus' mission in Jerusalem He spent some time in the Himalayas in the city of Kapivastu where the priests of Buddha opened wide their temple doors for Him:

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ
by Levi H. Dowling (1844-1911)

CHAPTER 32.

1Among the Buddhist priests was one who saw a lofty wisdom in the words that Jesus spoke. It was Barata Arabo.
2Together Jesus and Barata read the Jewish Psalms and Prophets; read the Vedas, the Avesta and the wisdom of Guatama...
12And Jesus said, Enlightened Arabo, are you a master mind...
40Barata was amazed; the wisdom of the Jewish sage was revelation unto him.
41Now, Vidyapati, wisest of the Indian sages, chief of temple Kapavistu, heard Barata speak to Jesus of the origin of man, and heard the answer of the Hebrew prophet, and he said,
42You priests of Kapavistu, hear me speak: We stand today upon a crest of time. Six times ago a master soul was born who gave a glory light to man, and now a master sage stands here in temple Kapavistu.
43This Hebrew prophet is the rising star of wisdom, deified. He brings to us a knowledge of the secret things of God; and all the world will hear his words, will heed his words, and glorify his name.
44You priests of temple Kapavistu, stay! be still and listen when he speaks; he is the Living Oracle of God.
45And all the priests gave thanks, and praised the Buddha of enlightenment.
